I waited until blue hour to make this image. I really wanted the ambient light of the sky and the artificial lights on the lighthouse to reach a balance that made this exposure harmonious. The longer exposure drew the ocean out and provided a clean balanced foreground. I took a second exposure a few seconds later at a faster shutter speed to capture the birds sharply and blended the two exposures. But my favorite part of the image is the soft pastel sky that reflected its remaining light gently onto the lighthouse. @montauklighthouse is quintessential #longisland beauty and a place I will miss as my family and I take the next big steps in our lives. After months locked out of my account @portrait.of.a.still.world due to a 2 step verification roadblock, I’ve decided to create a new account and embrace a fresh start. This new image above was taken at arguable one of the most beautiful parks in New York. The gorges of the #fingerlakes of #newyork are a site to see. Carved out by the gentle and persistent flow of water, the curves and the changes of elevation make every turn of the corner a surprise. Often times you are greeted by 1 of the 100s of waterfalls in the region. Watkins Glen is amongst the most beautiful of these gorges and is no stranger to photographs.
